Intermezzo : ‘the art of love’

One thing I already learned during this trip… People here really help each other! Without that numerous help, this trip would have failed a thousand times. Especially the last days, I started to see and to feel how strong human connections are here in the Kimberleys! We’re probably in one of the roughest parts of our world, no – or poor – telephone connection, a harsh desert climate and very long distances to travel. You almost need to be all the time self sufficient and can count on the Royal Flying Doctors, but even that is not enough.

Broome and the Dampier Peninsula

All starts good when we reach the city. Along the road a sign tells us ‘fresh veggies’ at a nearby farm. We decide to pass and finally… Tomatoes, capsicum, cucumber, salad, watermelon, eggplants and zucchini at fair prices! What will these fresh vegetables taste delicious the next meals. It seems an eternity since we tasted much more than fresh carrots, onions and potatoes.

Our first stop along the road is Carnarvon, a small coastal city. There we need to repair our radiator at the local radiator shop. The mechanic removes the entire front of Janis, weld the stone-hole and sets everything back on place. We buy also some equipment and spare parts for our car…
