The Northernmost Desert…
After two relaxing days in Palomino, we start our trip to the northernmost point of South America, the desert region of the Guajira Peninsula.
We start with a direct bus to 4 Via, where they put us in a taxi to Uribia. From there we get in the back of a pick up, together with 6 other adults, 6 kids, a couple of goats, a drum of water and some food. Along the railroad we drive in a straight line and see the vegetation change gradually… From trees and green, to cactus and low shrub in the sand. At the same time the temperature rises and the humidity drops. We know it for sure, we’re in the desert along the Caribbean Coast.
