From Melbourne to the Red Centre
During the next days we have to drive a long distance from Melbourne to the Red Centre near Alice Springs, roughly 3000 km road along beaches, through deserts and some mountainous landscapes.

Christmas in Melbourne
Christmas over here is something strange… We arrive in Melbourne late afternoon in temperatures of 40 degrees, full summer. That evening we discover the city in the Christmas theme. Lots of locations are transformed into snowy landscapes with the tin soldiers, lights and stars and bells everywhere.

Now we’ve tasted some of nature’s delights near Hobart it is time for us to leave and discover another natural spot of the Island, Freycinet Peninsula at the East Coast.
Tasmania – Part 1
We embark around 7 o’clock in the morning at Devonport and drive firstly through the quarantine checkpoint… Without our fruit and veggies (a couple of carrots, onions, peaches and ginger) from the esky on board we continue. These checkpoints can frequently be found at the state frontiers to diminish the spread of non-domestic plants and animals, here in Tasmania they control quite thorough.

Iedereen spreekt er met veel lof over…en inderdaad…het is schitterend. Het is een schiereiland met het meest zuidelijke punt van Australië zo’n 220km van Melbourne.
